The Nordic infrastructure fond Infranode has entered into an agreement to invest in two Danish biogas plants via an acquisition of 49% of the "Thorsø" and "Foersom" plants.
The investment is Infranode's first investment in biogas and also marks the beginning of a collaboration to create a biogas platform with Renegas A/S. Currently, the two biogas plants produces up to 160 GWh biogas yearly and Foersom is the first biogas plant in Denmark that is operated independently from public subsidies. With the investment, a doubling of the capacity is planned.
Infranode is an infrastructure fund with activities in the Nordics investing in energy and renewables, digital infrastructure, transport and social infrastructure. Infranode manages about EUR 1.8 billion in committed capital on behalf of its institutional investors, which includes Storebrand, Folksam, KPA Pension, Keva and the European Investment Bank
Renegas A/S is a Danish producer of biomethane with strong competencies in certifications and sustainability assessments for biomethane. The company has a special focus on delivering tangible CO2 reductions from biomethane production, enabling society to efficiently collect CO2 and use it as a vital raw material in a future without fossil energy.
Horten has advised Infranode in connection with the investment. Team-responsible partner Thomas Francis Beckett was assisted by Marie Funch Lind and Timmi Smed O'Brien.
