As of 1 January 2022, Horten has admitted attorneys Peter Helbo Langsted, Maria Schmiegelow and Rune Halkjær Ebbesen as partners, and Emil Spurr Madsen as junior partner.
With 350 employees thereby being among the country's largest law firms, Horten is strengthening the partner group with the admission of four new partners. Within our own ranks, we have admitted Rune Halkjær Ebbesen and Emil Spurr Madsen specialised in advice on real estate and Maria Schmiegelow specialised in litigation while Peter Helbo Langsted joins Horten from Bech-Bruun.
Peter Helbo Langsted
is specialised within M&A and has worked on many high-profile
transactions in Denmark for the last 10 years. Peter advises Danish and
international clients on all aspects of the transaction process across
all sectors and has international M&A experience from the New York
offices of the US law firms Winston & Strawn and Jenner & Block.
Peter also advises founders and investors on venture and growth
investments and has practical experience as co-owner of a number of
start-ups.
Peter is an external lecturer in company law at the University of
Copenhagen and is the author and co-author of several books and articles
on corporate issues, contract law and criminal law.
He graduated from the University of Aarhus in 2012 and comes from a position as senior attorney with Bech-Bruun.
Maria Schmiegelow is an experienced litigator specialised within commercial disputes, and she has conducted various high-profile cases concerning damages and managerial liability for Danish and foreign enterprises. She also represents clients in corporate criminal cases and cases concerning judicial review of authority decisions. Maria is the co-author of a number of books, most recently Liability for industrial injuries, and writes regularly for Karnov's newsletter Arbejdsmiljø ABF.
She joined Horten as a student in 2010 and graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 2013. She has studied at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
Rune Halkjær Ebbesen
is an expert within commercial leases and complex property transactions
where he advises both purchasers, sellers and developers, and he also
provides advice in connection with the handling of real estate in
general. Rune also has wide experience in handling properties in
distress. He also advises lessors and lessees on the preparation and
negotiation of lease agreements and the handling of matters pertaining
to rent legislation, including disputes.
He graduated from the University of Aarhus in 2007 and joined Horten's
real estate team in 2015 after a number of years as an attorney with
Finansiel Stabilitet.
Emil Spurr Madsen advises national and international property investors on real estate, M&A, property development, business leases and asset management. Emil also advises on corporate/M&A, company law and commercial contracts, and he is also experienced in dispute resolution and litigation and is often appointed legal counsel for witnesses in investigation commissions.
He was employed as a student at Horten in 2013 and graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 2015. He has studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
