Corporate attorneys Jesper Madsen and Peter Istrup join Horten as new partners, both at the Aarhus office. This is part of Horten’s offensive growth strategy in Jutland.
Peter Istrup has wide experience advising on commercial law, both as an attorney and as an in-house lawyer. Through more than 10 years with Arla Foods and Maersk Oil, he has worked with complex contracts, company formation, establishment and various compliance tasks, and he has wide litigation experience both nationally and internally.
In connection with compliance and management tasks, Peter Istrup has had particular focus on the interface between the law and technology. He recently handed in his PhD thesis on blockchain and smart contracts at the University of Aarhus. He has for several years served in the panel of judges at the Danish Legal Tech Awards, and until joining Horten as partner he was chairman of the board of Danske Virksomhedsjurister.
Peter Istrup joined Horten on 1 September 2021.
Jesper Madsen is one of the leading copyright experts in Denmark and advises on industrial design, software, TV, music, film, sport, literature and images, including e-commerce and digital rights, and he has wide experience advising on commercial use of individuals’ names and photos. He has many years’ experience advising many of the largest providers of games and computer and console games as well as gaming apps on Danish gaming legislation and other legislation. In this connection, he has assisted numerous game providers with their applications for a licence to provide games in Denmark, assessment of marketing, conclusion of cooperation agreements and disputes with authorities.
Jesper Madsen has for several years been a part-time lecturer in copyright law at the University of Aarhus. He comes from a position as senior attorney with Gorrissen Federspiel and joins Horten as partner on 1 October 2021.
