Eight municipalities in Funen have sold the commercial activities of the Nature Energy after 40 years of municipal ownership. The commercial activities of Nature Energy (previously Naturgas Fyn) were sold at an amount of DKK 1.1 billion to a partnership between the Danish pension fund Sampension and the international capital funds Poineer Point Partners and Davidson Kempner.

Today, Nature Energy already operates five biogas plants and is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of biogas to the gas network. The new owners of Nature Energy have purchased the company for the purpose of making additional investments in biogas plants enabling them to capture markets outside Denmark and to make the company a major international player in connection with the green change-over of the European gas network.

At the same time, the sale of the commercial activities marks a division of the Nature Energy group which also owns NGF Nature Energy Distribution A/S. NGF Nature Energy Distribution A/S owns, monitors and maintains the natural gas network in Funen.

The eight municipalities also made an agreement with Energinet on the sale of NGF Nature Energy Distribution A/S which is expected to take place within a couple of months. Read more about the sale here: Nature Energy’s gas network sold to Energinet.
