Nature Energy sells market business

On 24 April 2018, the Nature Energy group concluded an agreement with Energi Fyn concerning sale of the part of the Nature Energy group selling gas to private customers and companies (NGF Nature Energy A/S). Horten has advised NGF on all legal aspects in connection with the sale.

Until March 2018, the Funen energy group was owned by eight municipalities in Funen. After 40 years of municipal ownership, the group’s commercial activities were sold to a partnership between the Danish pension group Sampension and the international capital funds Pioneer Point Partners and Davidson Kempner. The commercial activities consisted of NGF Nature Energy A/S’ market business, which sells gas to 60,000 natural gas customers, and NGF Nature Energy Biogas A/S, which is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of biogas to the gas network.

The sale of the market business to Energi Fyn implies that Nature Energy can focus 100 % on the development of biogas, which will then become the primary business area.

A number of formal approvals are still pending, including from the Competition and Consumer Authority, before the sale is completed.
