The Article 29 group has adopted a new action plan listing which subjects the group will prioritise in 2017 to ensure an effective implementation of the regulation on data protection.

It appears from the action plan that as a new element, the group will prepare guidelines on consent, profiling and the requirement for transparency. The latter is expected to start in the second half of 2017.

In addition, the group will follow up on a number of subjects from the 2016 action plan, including guidelines on certification and administrative fines, setting up of the Data Protection Council and preparation of the one-stop-shop mechanism and updating of existing agreements on transfer of personal data to third countries and notifications concerning breach of the personal data security.

We will follow the group's work very closely and keep you updated concurrently with the new guidelines being published.

The regulation will become effective on 25  May 2018.
