Danish Energy Agency published that Vattenfall Vindkraft A/S won the tender concerning the offshore wind farm Horns Rev 3 at a price of DKK 0.77 per kWh.

Vattenfall offered a price of DKK 0.77 per kWh, which was significantly below the price of DKK 105.10 offered by DONG Energy when winning the tender concerning Anholt wind farm in 2010. According to the Agency, Horns Rev 3 will be 32 % cheaper at the present price level than the last time Denmark built an offshore wind farm and it will be the cheapest wind farm in Europe at the moment.

Horns Rev 3 is expected to be finished on 1 January 2020, but already in 2017 the first turbines will be ready for connection. According to the Agency, the wind share of the electricity consumption in 2020 will increase by 4.8 percentage points from 46.2 % to 51 %.
