Energy and supply law

Our Experience and expertise

Horten has in-depth expertise within energy and supply law and ranks among the leading advisers in the area in Denmark. We have many years' experience navigating between the conflicting interests of public regulation and private business and handling the complex conditions and processes often characterising the energy and supply area.

In addition, we are thoroughly familiar with the characteristics of publicly owned utility companies.

Our specialists have a broad network in the energy and supply sector. Several of our lawyers have previously been employed with the largest energy companies and in the central government, and we are deeply anchored in industry networks and other professional forums.

our clients

Our clients include private and publicly owned companies within the entire energy value chain. We advise some of the largest players in the sector, both in Denmark and abroad.

In the upstream area, we represent the largest producers of oil and gas in the North Sea and suppliers to the E&P area.

When advising within the other supply areas - including water, waste water, heat, waste, wind, bio gas and natural gas - our clients are often the municipally owned utility companies, organised either as public limited companies or as inter-municipal enterprises. We also advise privately owned utility companies or cooperative societies. We also have wide experience as an adviser to the municipalities owning the utility companies.

One source describes having a "very good experience" with the team and says the lawyers "are very commercial and the reaction time was good. They consider both legal and commercial issues and focus on solutions.

Chambers Europe, 2017

Clients frequently reference the support received from the team and one comments that it is "skilled, has the right set-up and a good network," before describing Horten as "a firm with integrity and good quality.
