The EUDP - new round of applications for grants to energy projects in 2017

The Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP) has published a new strategy for 2017-2019, which forms the basis of new projects worthy of support. The EUDP is a public scheme supporting new energy technology, which must contribute to achieving the target set in relation to energy and climate. Compared to previous strategies, the new strategy focuses on key areas in a more global perspective.

The EUDP's new strategy opens up for applications for grants to energy projects in 2017. The application deadline is on 29 March 2017. Grants may be paid from two different pools - the EUDP's general pool and the special pool relating to energy effective transportation. DKK 170 million are available in the general pool, and DKK 7.9 million in the special pool.

Companies can apply for grants to energy projects within the following six main categories:

  • Wind energy
  • District heating
  • Efficient use of energy
  • Bioenergy
  • Smart grids and system integration
  • Oil and gas

When assessing whether to provide a grant, the EUDP will take into account a number of general criteria, including the project's professional quality and the company's management and organisation. The EUDP has also listed a number of energy political targets, including assessment criteria and efficiency targets, which must be taken into consideration when assessing a project worthy of support. For more information on the assessment criteria and the efficiency targets of the EUDP's strategy, see her, while the energy-political targets are listed below.

Energy-political targets:

  • Security of supply
  • Fossil fuel independence
  • Climate and environmental considerations
  • Cost effectiveness
  • Growth and employment
  • Research that improves energy-technology development and demonstration

Horten has wide knowledge and experience within the energy sector, and we will be ready to advise you if you need any help preparing or tailoring your application for a grant to a new energy project in 2017. You are also very welcome to contact us if you have any questions to the EUDP's new strategy or the general terms and conditions for obtaining grants.

The EUDP held an information meeting on 8 February 2017 on the new strategy and the terms and conditions for applying. For more information on the programme etc., see denne nyhed from the Danish Energy Agency.
