International women lawyers discuss the future of the legal profession

Horten participates when 150 lawyers from all over the world meet in Berlin on 7-8 April under the headline "Law in a changing world – how women can contribute to innovation of the legal profession".

The Women Lawyers' Interest Group is an IBA Committee that offers a forum for women lawyers from all over the world from Australia (and Denmark) to Zambia. The group discusses subjects of global importance to women practitioners of law. The International Bar Association (IBA) is the world's leading organisation of international legal practitioners, bar associations and law societies of which many Danish lawyers are members, the object of which is to promote, protect and enforce human rights and justice throughout the world. The organisation is also used for professional and commercial inspiration and to build up and maintain a solid international network.

Lise Lotte Hjerrild, Board Member and M&A Partner at Horten, has been Secretary of the IBA Women Lawyers' Interest Group for the last four years, and she is therefore also co-hosting the conference, which is held every second year.

"There is a need for a special international forum for women, not least within the legal profession, which has a major international interface. Our clients expect to an increasing extent that we have a solid international network," says Lise Lotte Hjerrild.

At the conference, Lise Lotte Hjerrild will be responsible for a panel discussion about "The future of M&A - deal sourcing and deal success", where a panel of prominent M&A lawyers will discuss how M&A has developed in the last five years, and how the lawyer's role in M&A transactions may be developed and improved.

The conference also has a social agenda. This year, focus will be on the most current subjects: Refugees and the right to work - integration in a rapidly changing employment landscape. Further, the 2016 IBA Award for the Outstanding International Woman Lawyer will be presented.

Marianne Lage, partner at Horten and employment law expert, will also participate in the conference.
